セコイア国立公園は、1890 年 9 月 25 日に米国で3番目の国立公園として設立され、1,635 km²（404,051 エーカー）の広さを有します。また標高約4,000m(13,000 フィート)の垂直起伏に囲まれたこの公園には、米国本土の最高地点である標高 4,421 m (14,505 フィート) のホイットニー山があります。

モロロック / Moro Rock

1931 年に建設された階段は、訪問者が頂上までハイキングできるように、岩に切り込まれて注がれています。岩からの眺めは、グレートウエスタンディバイドを含む公園の大部分を網羅しています。雷雨時や降雪時は、このトレイルの使用をお勧めしません。

The staircase, constructed in 1931, is cut into the rocks to allow visitors to hike to the summit. The view from the rocks covers much of the park, including the Great Western Divide. It is not recommended to use this trail during thunderstorms or snowfall.

セコイア国立公園トンネルログ / Sequoia National Park’s Tunnel Log

モロ・ロック・クレセント・メドウ・ロードの完成直後、巨大なセコイアが倒れ道路が塞がりました。木は大きすぎて動かすことができなかったため、その木を通るトンネルが作られました。

Shortly after the completion of Moro Rock Crescent Meadow Road, a huge sequoia fell and blocked the road. The tree was too large to move, so a tunnel was constructed to pass through it.

シャーマン将軍の木 / General Sherman Tree

トンネル・ロック / Tunnel Rock

昔は、岩のトンネルを車で通ることができたみたいです。今は車での通行できなくなりましたが、岩の下に立って写真を撮ることはできます。

It seems that in the past, it was possible to drive through tunnels made of rock. However, nowadays, car traffic through these tunnels is prohibited. Nevertheless, you can still stand underneath the rock tunnels and take photographs.

クリスタル・ケイヴ / Crystal Cave (Sequoia National Park)

The cave is a constant 48 °F (9 °C). It is accessible by Park Service guided tours only.　Tickets are not sold on-site, but must be bought at the Foothills or Lodgepole Visitor Center.
